In what seems to be the app idea that refuses to die, there is — yet another — app for rating and reviewing people. This one, however, is limited to people who use dating apps and websites. A new app called Stroovy aims to help users vet the people they meet on dating sites by reading and writing reviews based on their experience. The idea is similar to Lulu , the app that began as a way for women to rate and review men they dated. Lulu transitioned to a more conventional dating app earlier this year. But, unlike Lulu’s reviews, Stroovy takes reviews from users of all genders. The app’s reviews are also not anonymous, at least not completely. A user name and avatar appears alongside each review the app also requires users sign up with their phone numbers to prevent people from making duplicate accounts.

A new dating app has been released that allows you to rate and review your dates straight after going on them. The concept of Do I Date is to create a more open dating experience by giving you the opportunity to give your date a rating out of five and leave honest feedback about how you found their company. With that in mind, Do I Date could prove very useful for people who prefer to date with as much transparency as possible. The person being reviewed will then receive a text message asking for them to verify their account, at which point they can decide to have it removed altogether.
The likelihood of someone actually being willing to be reviewed by someone they hardly know is debatable.

A dating app wants its users to know precisely how dateable they are in the eyes of fellow swipers — by evaluating them on the strength of their photos, then informing users of how hot they are on a scale from 1 to 5. The transparent — and perhaps harsh — new system comes from the algorithm-driven, UK-based app, Once. But Tinder has never told users how likely they are to be right-swiped. Instead, it only sorted photos by likability.

Ridiculous, your gut is an idiot. You can add photos and basic info about people to the app manually, or you can take screenshots of their dating app profiles and let Evolve pull information out for you. That feature is admittedly fun to use and something I would do a lot if I were maybe just 18 months younger than I am right now. The more info you input about a potential romantic partner over time, the more the app will tell you about whether you like them.
As many first-date hook-ups? Going on enough dates per month? Jokes aside, it is my responsibility to beg you not to actually use this app to make decisions about people. Very cool.

Today, finding a date is not a challenge — finding a match is probably the issue. In —, Columbia University ran a speed-dating experiment where they tracked 21 speed dating sessions for mostly young adults meeting people of the opposite sex. I was interested in finding out what it was about someone during that short interaction that determined whether or not someone viewed them as a match. The dataset at the link above is quite substantial — over 8, observations with almost datapoints for each.
However, I was only interested in the speed dates themselves, and so I simplified the data and uploaded a smaller version of the dataset to my Github account here. We can work out from the key that:. We can leave the first four columns out of any analysis we do. Our outcome variable here is dec. I’m interested in the rest as potential explanatory variables. Before I start to do any analysis, I want to check if any of these variables are highly collinear – ie, have very high correlations.
If two variables are measuring pretty much the same thing, I should probably remove one of them. But none of these get up really high eg past 0. I might want to spend a bit more time on this issue if my analysis had serious consequences here.
